The Australian reports that Australia has been urged by an American former top trade official to join an international coalition of countries to take on China over its unfair industrial subsidies for state-owned enterprises. Wendy Cutler, who served as deputy US trade representative in the Obama administration, said Australia should be pressed harder by the Trump administration to join Europe, Japan and the US in their push to reform the WTO industrial subsidy rules. During a USSC online event Cutler said "With China I think there is important work we need to do here."
