The US Studies Centre's Alliance 21 Program hosted an on-the-record roundtable discussion with Dr Michael J. Green, senior vice president for Asia and Japan chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Zack Cooper, fellow and Japan chair at CSIS, Dr Brendan Taylor, head of the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre a the Australian National University (ANU), and Dr Peter Dean, senior fellow at the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre at ANU, about the joint CSIS-ANU report The ANZUS Alliance in an Ascending Asia.

    Michael J. Green visited the US Studies Centre in July 2015. He is the Senior Vice President for Asia and Japan Chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and Associate Professor at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.

  • Dr Zack Cooper
    Dr Zack Cooper
    Research fellow, American Enterprise Institute

    Zack Cooper is a research fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. His research focuses on US defense strategy in Asia, particularly the importance of working closely with regional allies and partners. He has co-authored reports on the US-Australia alliance while working at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments. He previously served on staff at the US National Security Council and the US Department of Defense. He completed his BA from Stanford University and MPA, MA, and PhD from Princeton University.

  • Associate Professor Brendan Taylor
    Associate Professor and Head of the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre, Australian National University

    Brendan Taylor visited the US Studies Centre in 2015. Taylor is Associate Professor and Head of the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre at the Australian National University. He is a specialist on great power strategic relations in the Asia-Pacific, economic sanctions, and Asian security architecture. His publications have featured in leading academic journals such as International Affairs, Survival, Asian Security, Review of International Studies and the Australian Journal of International Affairs.

  • Dr Peter Dean
    Senior Fellow in the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre, Australian National University

    Dr Peter Dean visited the US Studies Centre in July 2015. He is a Senior Fellow in the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre at the Australian National University.
