USSC Research Associate Ava Kalinauskas was featured in an article in The New Daily discussing the strengths and liabilities of Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate, Governor Tim Walz.
Kalinauskas said Walz is someone the Harris campaign "thinks can appeal to rural voters in the Midwest and in the Rust Belt, and who has this progressive record that can potentially energise the Democrats’ base.”
She added that Walz's progressive record could potentially be a liability, with Republicans already attacking him for his handling of the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests in his home state of Minnesota.
