US President Donald Trump has ordered the Pentagon to scale back joint military exercises with South Korea, saying the nation had declined to help denuclearise Iran. He also brought up his good relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. It's another case of Trump taking aim at a strong ally of the United States.
USSC Research Fellow Tom Corben spoke with ABC about the reality of North Korea's role in the world, saying that "it's become more adventurous or disruptive in the last couple of years" and that Trump's "claim that North Korea is unthreatening and respectful, you know, might stack up at the presidential bilateral level, but really doesn't reflect North Korea's actual behaviour and practice."
