US President Donald Trump has suggested a face-to-face meeting with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin after US special envoy Steve Witkoff’s visit to Moscow ahead of a White House-imposed deadline for the Kremlin to strike a ceasefire deal with Ukraine.

USSC Director of Research Jared Mondschein spoke with ABC News, saying a US-Russia leaders’ meeting would be a win for Putin but Trump will attempt to use his ‘power of personality’ to achieve a breakthrough in peace negotiations.
