The Honourable Steven Marshall AO

Biography
Steven Marshall is a member of the United States Studies Centre Board of Directors. He is based in New York, where he serves as President of the American Australian Association (AAA), leading efforts to strengthen the economic, strategic, and cultural ties between Australia and the United States.
A former Australian political and business leader, Marshall served as the 46th Premier of South Australia from 2018 to 2022. During his tenure, he held multiple ministerial portfolios, including Defence and Space Industries, Cyber, the Arts, Aboriginal Affairs, and Veterans’ Affairs. He led a significant transformation of South Australia’s economy, with a focus on future industries such as advanced manufacturing, space, defence, and technology, helping position the state as a global hub for innovation and investment.
In his current role at the AAA, Marshall convenes senior leaders across business, government, academia, and the arts to advance collaboration in key areas including critical minerals, artificial intelligence, energy, defence, and education.
Marshall also serves as Chair of the Australian Advisory Council for MITRE and is a Governor of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia.
