Stephen Fitzgerald

Stephen Fitzgerald is a member of the US Studies Centre's Council of Advisors. Fitzgerald is a co-Founder and Chairman of Affirmative Investment Management (UK) and Deputy Chairman of PineBridge Investments (New York). Previously, he was Head of Goldman Sachs Asset Management International, CIO International Fixed Income and Currency - GSAM and a former member of the Board of Guardians for the Australia Future Fund.
Biography

Stephen Fitzgerald is a member of the US Studies Centre's Council of Advisors. Fitzgerald is a co-Founder and Chairman of Affirmative Investment Management (UK) and Deputy Chairman of PineBridge Investments (New York). He serves on the boards of QBE Insurance Group (Global), the Great Barrier Reef Foundation (Australia) and the British Museum Investment Sub Committee (UK). He is a Trustee of the Garden Bridge Trust (UK) and a member of the NSW Government Expert Advisory Panel on Social Impact Bonds (Australia). Fitzgerald was appointed as a member of the Board of Guardians of the Future Fund (Australia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund) and served for a period of five years, until April 2016.

Previously, Fitzgerald was Head of Goldman Sachs Asset Management International (GSAM). In this role, he was responsible for GSAM's businesses outside North America, encompassing Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. In addition, Fitzgerald was Head of the Investment Management Division in Asia and spent eight years as Chief Investment Officer for GSAM's International Fixed Income and Currency business. Fitzgerald joined Goldman Sachs in 1992 and was named a Managing Director in 1998, and a Partner in 2002. During his time with Goldman Sachs, he was based in various countries around the world, including London, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Sydney.

Fitzgerald earned a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of New England, Australia in 1986.
