Biography
Rodney Taveira is a Senior Lecturer in American Studies, and Undergraduate, Honours, and Postgraduate Coordinator at the United States Studies Centre. Rodney joined the Centre in 2011 from the University of New South Wales, and he has been a Visiting Fellow in the Faculty of Law, Humanities, and the Arts at the University of Wollongong. His research on American fiction, television, art, and cinema has appeared as in The Journal of Popular Culture, Cultural Studies Review, Comparative American Studies, and in edited collections. He writes popular pieces on American society and culture, and he has been interviewed on national television and radio. His current monograph, ‘The Cinematic Face of American Literature,’ argues that new critical perceptions on violence, sexuality, and the way writing makes meaning are observed in contemporary American fiction when it is read through the lens of visual culture.
