Riya Sinha is a recipient of the inaugural 2024 Maitri Fellowship funded by Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, sponsored by the United States Studies Centre. From May to October 2024 Riya will undertake research on Australia-India cooperation in strengthening port connectivity across the North-Eastern Indian Ocean region for USSC's Economic Security program.

Biography

Riya Sinha is a recipient of the inaugural 2024 Maitri Fellowship funded by Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, sponsored by the United States Studies Centre. The Maitri Fellowships program supports leading Indian policy thinkers to undertake secondments with prominent Australian think tanks. Riya is also an Associate Fellow at the Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP) in New Delhi.

From May to October 2024, Riya will undertake research for USSC's Economic Security program. Her study will explore opportunities for collaboration between Australia and India to strengthen port infrastructure and connectivity in the Northeast Indian Ocean to better secure supply chains and address geo-economic competition in the maritime domain.

Riya has extensive experience in foreign and economic security policy, advising international governments, conducting time release studies and research on port logistics and infrastructure, and coordinating the Sambandh Initiative on Regional Connectivity at CSEP. Riya actively contributes to strategic dialogues and conferences on infrastructure development and port connectivity.
