Hilary McGeachy

Hilary McGeachy was the 2018 Alliance 21 Fellow at the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney. During her fellowship, Hilary was based at the Center for a New American Security in Washington, DC where she examined the challenges facing industry and policymakers in the rapidly evolving areas of emerging technology, international rules and geo-economic competition.

Biography

Hilary McGeachy was the 2018 Alliance 21 Fellow at the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney. During her fellowship, Hilary was based at the Center for a New American Security in Washington, DC where she examined the challenges facing industry and policymakers in the rapidly evolving areas of emerging technology, international rules and geo-economic competition.

A career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Hilary has previously served as a trade negotiator for the Australian Government on e-commence, telecommunications and digital issues in the Trans-Pacific Partnership, World Trade Organization and at APEC.

Hilary’s current assignment is at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi, where she is a member of the economic team. Hilary has previously served in the Australian Embassy in Berlin. She holds an Arts/Law (Honours) degree from the Australian National University.

The fellowship was undertaken while on leave from the Australian Government.
