Edward Palmisano

Edward Palmisano commenced as Chief Operating Officer of the United States Studies Centre in July 2021. 

As a former diplomat, Edward represented Australia at international negotiations, including the Free Trade Agreement with the United States. At DFAT, he served as First Secretary at the Australian Embassy in Madrid, specialised in international law and received a DFAT Australia Day Citation for evacuation of Australians during the Israel Lebanon War. 

As Head of International at the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Edward led a period of sustained growth in the AICD's operations in the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific. He was a regular speaker on global governance and his team received the NSW Premier's Emerging Exporter Award. 

Edward has served on various boards and advisory bodies, including the Art Gallery Society of NSW, the Global Network of Director Institutes and the NSW Police Counter Terrorism Mass Gathering Committee. 

At the start of his career, Edward served as Herbert Scoville Peace Fellow at the Henry L. Stimson Centre - an international relations think tank in Washington DC. In that role, he supported the United Nations Brahimi review of UN peace operations which was adopted by the UN General Assembly. 

He holds a Masters in International Relations from Cambridge and is a Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust. He also holds a BA (Hons 1), Bachelor of Laws from Sydney University, and is admitted to the High Court of Australia.
