A US trade court has blocked President Donald Trump from imposing sweeping tariffs on imports under an emergency-powers law. The Court of International Trade ruled Trump had exceeded his authority under the federal emergency powers law he invoked to justify the tariffs. The White House says it will appeal the decision.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk is leaving his government role as a top adviser to US President Donald Trump. It comes after Mr Musk criticised one of Donald Trump's signature policies, which the president describes as his "big, beautiful bill".
