Barack Obama promised change would come to Washington. After Obama's first 100 days in office, what have been the accomplishments, challenges and impediments? Thomas Mann, one of America's pre-eminent scholars, reviewed the start of the Obama presidency, the relationship with Congress and assessed likely upcoming developments for the remainder of 2009.

Thomas Mann, Brookings Institution Senior Fellow writes and speaks widely on issues related to campaigns; elections; and the effectiveness of Congress. He has conducted polls for congressional candidates and overseen national public opinion studies. Mann recently co-authored The Broken Branch: How Congress Is Failing America and How to Get It Back on Track.
