The United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney held the Melbourne launch of its latest research report “It Doesn't Have to Be This Way: Australia's Energy Crisis, America's Energy Surplus.”

Energy prices in Australia are two to three times more expensive than in the United States, but Australia’s energy crisis goes beyond home electricity bills and will affect its economic future. The Centre’s new report examines the indicators of economic loss from Australia’s energy crisis and compare these with US gains from its energy revolution.

This research is part of a project supported by Dow Chemical Australia. Lead author Dr Alex Robson brings together economic data, analysis of the key economic indicators and in-depth case studies with compelling findings.

Dr Robson will be joined by USSC CEO Simon Jackman and Dow Australia & New Zealand President Louis Vega.
