Edward (Ed) Morgan is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney and Defence Strategic Policy Manager at Northrop Grumman Australia where he leads strategy for the Australian arm of the business.

Biography

Edward (Ed) Morgan is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney and Defence Strategic Policy Manager at Northrop Grumman Australia where he leads strategy for the Australian arm of the business.

He was previously an Associate Director at KPMG Australia, prior to which he was Director Cyber Concepts in Information Warfare Division at Australian Defence Headquarters. Ed worked as Strategy Adviser to Australia’s Head Information Warfare from 2017-2020 and Strategy Adviser Air Force from 2016-2017. Before this, Ed was Manager Defence Industry for the Government of Victoria and an Assistant Director in the Australian Department of Defence’s Strategic Policy Division, working across Military Strategy, Strategic Enterprise and Governance Reform. Ed commenced his career in Defence Headquarters as a strategic capability analyst for the Royal Australian Navy. Ed has served full-time in the Royal Australian Air Force and continues to serve as a senior officer in the Air Force Reserve.

Ed was educated at the University of Cambridge (MPhil, PhD) and the University of Melbourne (BA Hons, First Class). Ed speaks two non-English languages fluently and is proficient in three others. His publications span history, philosophy, strategy and international relations. Ed was a Military Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC, in 2018-2019, where he remains an Adjunct Fellow, and a Fellow of the Institute for Integrated Economic Research in Australia. Ed was a Board Member of the Institute for Regional Security (formerly the Kokoda Foundation) in Australia from 2012-2016.
