But it's receiving pushback from others in the US — Marc Goldwein, from the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, says this would cost US$1.2 trillion in just one year.
USSC Associate Professor David Smith spoke with ABC on this development, saying "Trump has actually made these offers before, although they have never materialised" and that Republicans in Congress have expressed concern about this as "the US is not in a position to be paying dividends."
