The Australian Financial Review reports that Australia’s political and security establishment is paralysed by uncertainty over what an alternative to the US alliance would look like. This follows Trump on Tuesday again singling out Australia for its lack of military assistance in the Middle East.
USSC CEO Dr Michael Green was quoted in the article on this development, saying the alliance had never been stronger, despite Trump’s interventions, as “Support for AUKUS is deep and broad and bipartisan in the US Congress, and support for AUKUS with one or two mid-level exceptions is very strong across the US administration."
