The Australian's Greg Sheridan quotes Mike Green, the newly appointed chief executive of the United States Studies Centre at Sydney University. Dr Green says that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is the biggest disruption to the international order since the 9/11 terror attacks, with huge implications for the Indo-Pacific, as “Asia’s future is being defined in Ukraine right now”.

Dr Green, author, professor at Georgetown University, vice-president of the Centre for Strategic and International Studies in Washington DC, was in charge of Asia policy at the National Security Council in George W. Bush’s administration and is the most senior American to accept this kind of posting in Australia.

He believes the outcome in Ukraine will have profound consequences in Asia.
