USSC Research Fellow in the Foreign Policy and Defence program Tom Corben talks to TaiwanPlus News in an interview about the recent revival of minilateral collaborations across the Indo-Pacific region. Asked about the reason for the Quad grouping between Australia, India, Japan and the United States, Tom says "there's a couple of things the four countries have in common. At the very basic level, these are the four largest maritime democracies in the Indo-Pacific... but they also critically share a convergence of strategic perspectives when it comes to the nature of the regional order that the four countries would like to see; as well as the measures that the four countries need to take, not only individually but also in concert with one another, to make sure that order is realised."
