USSC Director of Foreign Policy and Defence Professor Peter Dean is quoted in this article for The Sydney Morning Herald discussing UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's election promise to reinstate compulsory national service and similar moves that are underway in Europe.

He says that while Australia is still a long way off from making national service compulsory, it could become a conversation depending on US leadership.

"If Donald Trump is elected and starts to do really wacky things, these would be the detailed discussions you’d need to start having," says Professor Dean.
