Lack of Australian defence budget increase was a 'political own goal'

USSC Foreign Policy and Defence Director Professor Peter Dean is featured in an article discussing how Australia's Defence Strategic Review released in April 2023 was not matched by an increase to the defence budget over the four-year forward estimates.

Professor Dean, co-author of the Review, tells the Sydney Morning Herald “that was a political own goal and untenable in a national security sense.”
