Wolpe says that Trump has a "prohibitive lead" and that the results of the early primary states in January and February 2024 will be telling. Of Trump's Republican primary rivals, Wolpe says that Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, is “rising” while Florida governor Ron Desantis appeared to be stagnating.
