The Australian Political Studies Association (APSA) Postgraduate Day features a keynote address from USSC Chief Executive Officer Professor Simon Jackman and a presentation from USSC Senior Lecturer Dr David Smith. The Postgraduate Day is part of the 2016 APSA Annual Conference held at the University of New South Wales.

Senior Lecturer in American Politics and Foreign Policy, United States Studies Centre (jointly appointed with the School of Social and Political Sciences, University of Sydney)
David Smith is jointly appointed between the US Studies Centre and the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Sydney. His research examines political relations between states and minorities, with a focus on religion in the US. His book Religious Persecution and Political Order in the United States was published by Cambridge University Press in 2015.

Professor Simon Jackman
Chief Executive Officer, United States Studies Centre
Simon Jackman commenced as CEO of the US Studies Centre in April 2016. He was previously a Professor of Political Science and Statistics at Stanford University. Jackman's teaching and research centres on public opinion, election campaigns, political participation, and electoral systems with special emphasis on American and Australian politics.
