On ABC radio, USSC Associate Professor David Smith discusses Ron DeSantis' exit from the Republican presidential primaries race.

Associate Professor Smith says that the decision was "unsurprising" after DeSantis "had a very disappointing performance in Iowa," winning just 21 per cent of the vote despite the fact his campaign "invested everything in the state."

"It was obvious that he had no way of beating Donald Trump... most conservative Republican voters are very attached to the former president."
