Speaking to SBS News, USSC Director of Research Jared Mondschein says "We found that in 2016, Australians were looking for election results for the US election at twice the rate than they did their own election on Google."
He says that Australia fared well during former president Donald Trump's first term and that increases to the Australian defence budget and the nature of the AUKUS partnership would likely be well regarded if Trump were to be re-elected.
