USSC Director of Foreign Policy and Defence Professor Peter Dean is interviewed about this week's meeting between Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and US President Joe Biden in Washington, which could see Japan plug in to elements of the AUKUS pact.
Professor Dean tells ABC that "Japan is one of the key US allies in the Indo-Pacific region and in particular in East Asia. There is a very long and deep alliance relationship between the two countries and it's one of the cornerstones of peace and security in East Asia."
