The US government announced this week it was working with the Australian Defence Force to build a facility in Darwin that could host up to six nuclear-capable B-52 bombers a year. Tom Corben, a research fellow in foreign policy and defence at the United States Studies Centre, is quoted in the AAP that the bombers would more likely be used in high-profile deterrence missions, rather than for stealth.
