Each year from 2011 to 2016, the United States Studies Centre, in association with the World Press Institute, offered a media fellowship to the United States to a Australian mid-career journalist.
The two-month fellowship provided an extraordinary professional opportunity for an Australian journalist to be immersed in the governance, politics, business, media, journalistic ethics and culture of the United States.
The winner of the United States Studies Centre World Press Institute Media Fellowship was among a group of ten World Press Institute Fellows from around the world selected to travel. Based at the World Press Institute in Minneapolis-St Paul, Minnesota, the fellows travelled across the United States between August and October visiting major US cities such as Washington DC and New York.
