Vik Naidoo (PhD) is Chief Operating Officer, United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney. His academic affiliation is with both the US Studies Centre and with the University of Sydney Business School, where he respectively holds the title of Adjunct Associate Professor and Honorary Research Associate.
Vik’s career has seen him exposed to a number of sectors including tourism, consulting, financial services, government, and more recently higher education, where he has held both senior academic and managerial roles.
Recent roles in higher education include Associate Professor of International Business and Dean of International Programs at Curtin University, Director (International) at the University of Sydney and Deputy Director (International Relations and Policy) at the University of Auckland.
At the US Studies Centre, Vik manages the academic team, the think-tank part of the Centre as well as the operations team (Communications, Events, HR, Finance, Student Recruitment and Engagement teams)
Vik’s broad research interest focuses on international trade, business and marketing. He has published in outlets such as the Journal of Business Research, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, Journal of Studies in International Education, and Journal of World Trade among others. He has also written a number of commissioned reports for Government agencies (Australian, New Zealand and Chinese Governments) and served as an adviser at the World Trade Organization in Geneva as well as in the private sector with roles at Bain & Company and Bain Capital.
Vik earned his doctorate from Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand) and completed his postgraduate as well as undergraduate studies at the University of Auckland (New Zealand). He is an alumnus of the Management Development Program from Harvard University's Graduate School of Education.
