Kevin McCann AM is a member of the US Studies Centre's Board of Directors. McCann was Partner (from 1970 to 2004) and Chairman of Allens Arthur Robinson, a leading Australian law firm. He practiced as a commercial lawyer specialising in mergers and acquisitions, mineral and resources law and capital markets transactions.
McCann has extensive Board experience with major Australian companies. Previously, he was Chairman of Macquarie Bank and the Macquarie Group, Origin Energy Limited, Triako Resources Limited, Healthscope Limited, ING Management Limited, the Citadel Group and the Corporate Governance Committee on the Australian Institute of Company Directors. McCann has been a Director of BlueScope Steel Limited, Pioneer International Limited, Ampol Limited, Evans and Partners Pty Limited, the Sydney Institute of Marine Science and the State Rail Authority of New South Wales. He is Vice Chairman of the New Colombo Plan Reference Group and a member of the Evans and Partners Advisory Board, the National Library of Australia Council, the Sydney Harbour Conservancy Board and the Defence Procurement Advisory Board.
In the non-profit sector, McCann is Chairman of the National Library Development Council and the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust, a Commonwealth agency. He is also a Fellow of the Senate of the University of Sydney.
McCann holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Sydney and a Master of Laws from Harvard University.
