Engagement Manager, United States Studies Centre
Jacqui Smith has recently joined the United States Studies Centre as Engagement Manager, focusing on corporate and government partnerships, philanthropy and external engagement. Jacqui has worked in higher education for many years, intermingled with a career in arts management and commercial publishing.
Jacqui has worked for the University of Sydney in external engagement, international partnerships, publishing, marketing and communications at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Power Institute of Art and Visual Culture, and Sydney Law School. She has also worked for the University of Technology, Sydney, setting up the CSIRO Coastal Carbon Cluster and managing official publications.
Most recently, Jacqui was CEO at the Hume Conservatorium in Goulburn, leading a large regional music education program, managing NSW Department of Education and Create NSW funding for educational programs, new instruments, technology upgrade, and the inaugural 2022 Hume Chamber Music Festival. At the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Jacqui managed the international and domestic engagement program, improving relationships with university and arts partners for exchange, research and collaborative music projects, Work Integrated Learning programs and student recruitment. She has represented the University of Sydney at an international level – 2015 Estivo European Chamber Music Summer School in Italy; 2016 Chicago Midwest Clinic; 2018 and 2019 Association of European Conservatoriums; and was the secretariat for the 2017 to 2021 Pacific Alliance of Music Schools in the US, South Korea and Australia.
Jacqui holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Sydney, Master of Legal Studies (Intellectual Property) from the University of Technology, Sydney and a Graduate Diploma in Editing and Publishing from Macquarie University.
