Shawn Treier is a Research Affiliate of the US Studies Centre. Treier is a Lecturer at the School of Politics and International Relations at the Australian National University. He received his PhD from Stanford University and his research interests include the US Constitutional Convention and American political development, the US Congress, political behaviour and public opinion, and Bayesian measurement models. His work has appeared in the American Journal of Political Science, Political Analysis, Public Opinion Quarterly, American Politics Research, and the Journal of Law and Courts.
Treier is currently finishing a book manuscript, co-authored with Jeremy Pope, on the US Constitutional Convention. This work, initiated during his 2011-2012 Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Centre, characterises the issues that defined the debates at the Convention, the positions taken by the Convention delegates on these issues, and the economic, social and ideological factors that determined their positions.
