US Studies Centre CEO Professor Simon Jackman says while the two US political parties are "so entrenched" in their own worlds, he "doesn't see a lot of minds changing".
Mr Jackman said the question of removing President Trump from office is a "political consideration" rather than a legal one.
"Donald Trump's impeachment inquiry speaks to the prevalence of tribalism."
