Erin Riley, Masters student with the US Studies Centre has been recognised in the congressional record as "an outstanding student-ambassador" during her Uni-Capitol Washington Internship Program (UCWIP). The UCWIP gives students from eight universities from Australia opportunity to intern for eight weeks in a range of congressional offices in Washington, D.C. The Honourable Sam Farr of California anounced in the House of Representatives on 22 February that the UCWIP was "a wonderful educational experience" and encouraged his colleagues to support the program.

US Studies Centre Masters students Jaime Serpanchy and Jonathan Bradley are also currently in Washington D.C. with the program. Erin and Jonathan are both currently blogging for the Centre about their experiences.
