US Studies Centre non-resident fellow James Brown says the US move to support the pro-democracy protestors in Hong Kong is "a good decision by President Trump".
"There was speculation he'd veto the bill because it threatened to derail the progress of his trade talks with China," he said.
"The bill is quite far-reaching. The only congressman who opposed it said it goes too far into the domestic affairs of another country."
