Lyn Carson, Academic Program Director at the US Studies Centre, has received an international fellowship from the Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies in Virginia. Carson will reside at Thomas Jefferson's former plantation, Monticello, in Charlottesville for one month in September 2009. She intends spending her time in this beautiful location exploring the extensive library, pondering what Jefferson can teach today's deliberative democrats and what might deliberative democrats be able to teach Jefferson if he were alive today.
