Cameron O'Reilly

PhD Candidate


Cameron O’Reilly is the Executive Director of the Energy Retailers Association of Australia, the peak industry body representing retailers of electricity and gas in Australia’s energy markets. He is also a Director of the Australian Gas Industry Trust (AGIT), a member of the Advisory Group for the Prime Minister’s Energy Efficiency Task Group (EETG) and a member of the Advisory Committee of the VaasaETT Global Energy Think Tank.

Cameron is a former policy adviser to the Federal Government and holds a Bachelor of Economics from Sydney University and a Master of Management and Public Policy from Monash University, where he undertook a major research essay on the genesis of the National Electricity Market (NEM).

In 2009 Cameron undertook a Fulbright professional scholarship sponsored by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, through which he spent three months based at the University of Texas in Austin researching the impact of climate change policy on the US energy sector. He is now undertaking a part-time PhD at the US Studies Centre at the University of Sydney researching the potential revival of civilian nuclear power in the United States.
